Some friends on 500px and on DA have asked why my profile is no longer found on 500px. Well, it has to do with this shot:
I posted this shot in November of 2016. It was my profile cover shot and one of my all time favorites of Caroline Summers. I tagged the image as "people" since the number of categories 500px offers is very limited.
During the first weeks of 2018, I sent a note to the support system of 500px telling them that once again their keywords auto insert was putting ridiculous keywords as attachments to my images. They use an artificial intelligence system that automatically posts key words for the image. If your not careful during the upload process, strange things can result. (i.e. a picture of a female blond fully clothed was tagged as Brunette, Boy, Nude, and a few dozen words in french, Spanish, and german. ) Such mistakes also included keywords for wrong countries, famous places, and for some reason the AI couldn't figure out the difference between a blond and a brunette. I still have screen shots of many uploads showing the mistakes such as this:
Lake chuzenji, boardwalk, scarfs, wenatchee national forest, norikua, nikko national park, warm clothing, and kancamagus highway are all utterly incorrect. Footpath is close but not really correct. So 10 of the 12 keywords in green that 500px inserted without my direction during the upload were incorrect. 2 out of 12 isn't a great percentage. I told them in the support email that the keywords being inserted were annoying since we had to turn around a delete them all out after their system finally inserted them.
An hour after I send my note to them, I was sent a nasty response email telling me that one of my photos was found to be inappropriate and in violation of the community standards. They didn't say which photo, what file name, or even a thumbnail for me to know what the problem was. So I called. Which was a task in and of itself because there are few humans that actually work there.
The person who finally answer my call told me that the picture of Caroline (above), was in violation because I did not list it as "Not Safe For Work". That of course confused me since she is totally dressed in the image. So I pressed the issue. That's when the snowflake I was talking to, told me that the fact her dress strap was fallen over her shoulder made it (and I quote) "partial nudity".
On what planet is this image partial nudity? I'd like the opinion of the DA crowd. When posting such images would any of you consider this image offensive and believe that I should have considered it "Not Safe For Work"?
For questioning this issue, they shut down my profile and banned me from 500px. At the time, I had nearly 200,000 Affection points and 11.5 million page views.
I'd love to hear from you and know your views on this.
